Plans for further engagement between Kasparov and IBM, including a rematch, did not come to fruition, due to the accusations of cheating. 1985 world championship

Kasparov successfully used this opening, which was considered outdated, in the 1990 match against Karpov and in matches with Short and Anand. Kasparov was known for his extensive opening preparation and aggressive play in it. The second was a longer match consisting of eight blitz games played on 9 October, against English grandmaster Short.
